  • Frank uses the expression "point Percy" (at the porcelain) - I thought this was one of the fake slang terms that Barry Humphries invented for his character Barry McKenzie...

Frank can't keep his hands to himself during the fraternisation in the rec room. Marlene introduces herself to Geoff, but it seems to be mainly in order to rope him into gambling on the cockroaches. Myra tells Judy it was Reb who doped Marlene: they agree there isn't much they can do about it for now. Geoff offers to build a little house for Aussie. Joan catches Geoff talking to Marlene and Bobbie in their cell and snidely comments he must be expecting his stay in Wentworth to be "one long sex romp". Frank finds "Jane" in her cell and tries to grope her: she fights back and Pixie helps her to send Frank away. Lou bumps into "Jane" on her way to the shower and she drops her book: when Lou tries to pick it up "Jane" attacks her and scratches her face. Reb makes a point of asking how Marlene is when she hears the women critcising her for giving Marlene the cocaine. Frank tells Geoff Lou has mentioned having drugs to sell. Reb apologises to Marlene to get her back on side. The women are sent back to their cells for a search, but nothing is found. Lou tells Reb she managed to get to the stash in time. Ann shows Joyce the photo in the paper of the unknown prisoner in the Despatch and interviews "Jane" about the attack on Lou. She has to suspend "Jane's" priveleges even though she still doesn't say a word or write down her name when asked. Reb tells Marlene they can hold another cockroach race: Lou wants to bet ten dollars on her own cockroach. Ann summons Reb to her office to tell her the search was for cocaine. Reb offers to do all she can to help find out who's responsible. Matt comes out of the infirmary and is introduced to the women in the rec room. Bobbie and Pixie both express their interest in getting to know him better. Pixie sees "Jane" come into the dining room and leave without eating, so she follows her with some food. "Jane" indicates with sign language that she is looking for her book in Lou's cell, so she and Pixie do a quick search. Pixie finds the book, and also Lou's cocaine: she is just trying to hide it again when Joan catches her and says she will have to take her to the Governor. Myra asks to borrow Bobbie's Walkman. Frank meets Lou in the shower block: she wants to know more about his claim to be able to get drugs in and he asks her to get some sugar and yeast to make booze. Pixie denies she was planting the drugs in Lou's cell as they weren't found in the cell search and is told she will have to face the VJ on possession charges. Lou tells Reb the drugs have gone. Reb tells Pixie not to interfere this time and says she will get her off this time. She goes to Ann and lags on Lou, after getting a promise that her information will be kept secret. She also uses the opportunity to hint strongly to Ann that Myra may be mentally ill and was responsible for the bashings a while back. Geoff offers to use his carpentry skills to make a frame for Sam's collage mural. Reb tells Lou she thinks that Pixie shopped her and to be careful what she says. Bobbie and Marlene fall out over their competition for Matt's attention. Ann sees Meg in hospital and finds out she still hasn't made up her mind whether to have an abortion. Myra invites Reb to her cell with a "proposal" and tapes her conversation where she indicates clearly what her motives are for being top dog. Pixie tells Bobbie and Marlene to to embarrass Matt, as he's shy. Joan walks into the rec room as the races begin and Marlene's cockroach goes under her collar. The races are fixed for Lou's cockroach to win, after Reb has laid bets on it too. Lou, Fran and Alice leave the rec room and go to beat up Pixie, but Lou decides to rough up "Jane" first. Myra plays the tape to the women especially the bit where Reb says "Bugger the women". "Jane" runs into the rec room and speaks for the first time: "Come. You must help quick. They are getting Pixie."

This was the final episode for 1984 in the original run in Australia. Possibly having pushed the boat out in the cliffhanger department for the landmark 500th episode, it was felt that the year end could be a little more low-key than usual.
