Eve Wilder (Lynda Stoner)

Inducted in (575) as Eve Marie Wilder for the murder of her lover Robin Sanderson. She protests her innocence, and claims she shot him by accident believing him to be a burglar. Her first solicitor Adrian Foster tells her the police can't find any bullets in the wall behind where she claims Robin was standing (576) and Eve asks Ann to find her another solicitor. Ann mentions Eve's case to Ben Fulbright, who passes it on to David Adams. Eve finds out from Pippa Reynolds that David's marriage has just broken up (577) and we find out from a flashback in (578) that Eve shot Robin in bed when he told her their affair was over. Eve starts to play the women off against each other, and manages to gain enough popularity to be asked to judge a talent/beauty contest for the women. She also manipulates David Adams by flirting with him, and eventaully persuades him to go to the flat and remove any remaining incriminating evidence (586). When Eve realises that Joyce Pringle has overheard her conversations with David in the interview room, she batters her unconscious with the door, drags her to a cell, bashes her with a kettle and locks herself back in the interview room (587) and allows Reb Kean to take the blame. She urges David to visit the hospital to finish Joyce off, but he cannot go through with it, and on his next visit to Eve he leaves a note for Ann before shooting himself in front of Eve (589). The first of a series of notes informing on the prisoners is found under Joan's collar when she is removed from the drier (592) and Eve joins forces with Lou Kelly to try to discover the identity of the Phantom Lagger and works as informant for her to see who is breaking the hunger strike declared by Lou (599). She is also trading information with Joan, which leads to her downfall when Alice overhears her admit to Joan that she was the Phantom Lagger. Lou orders revenge on her: she is taken to the dining room and strung up from the ceiling and Lou kicks the chair away (600).When this episode was broadcast in the Granada region, this scene ended abruptly and the interval credit came up very suddenly ... as if a second or two had been cut out...?.
