Judy refuses to help Hazel, even by putting all her pills at her bed-side so she can take them herself. Bea tells the women of her suspicion that Phyllis isn't working for Sonia, but for Joan. Ann can't see any reason why Pixie shouldn't be allowed to reply to the responses to her ad provided she doesn't break any of the censorship rules. Sonia gives Bea notice she intends to take over, and intends to buy the women's support. Petra rejects Sonia's latest overtures of friendship and tells her she won't find Bea so easy to get rid of. The women help Pixie to compose her replies, though as Lizzie remarks there are a few that are too depraved even to read - like the one from the man who says he has a "German Shepherd" (...?!) Sonia suggests to Joan she turns a blind eye to the making of illicit grog, and Joan sees the appeal of Sonia's argument that Joan couldn't be blamed because no-one would ever believe she could be involved (..really?) Joan makes Pixie pick up one of her letters after Sonia has contemptuously screwed it up into a ball and thrown it on the floor. Wally warns Judy not to risk being sent back to Wentworth for aiding a suicide. Joan orders Lizzie to steal material from the kitchen, while Sonia saves potato peel from a huge pile Pixie has peeled . Mrs O'Reagan goes to Ann to complain about Pixie and reports missing sugar and yeast. Rosemary starts work as a waitress and gets her first order mixed up, then spills soup on the manager, so she is fired. At first the cell search fails to turn up the missing goods from the kitchen, but Joan deliberately takes Pixie to Ann to admit to stealing the goods. Pixie claims they were to make a wedding cake. This makes it seem as though it is just another of Pixie's crazy schemes and so no-one is punished, but Joan only hands over part of the goods. Scott asks Petra to marry him. Pixie tells Bea that she and Lizzie were forced by Joan to steal from the kitchen, so Bea searches the cells herself for the rest of the sugar and yeast. Joan finds her tearing up Pixie's cell and offers to help, taunting her with hide-and-seek type clues, but Bea fails to notice Joan's deliberate hint as to the real hiding place when she says she is "cold". Bea tries heavying Sonia instead, but Sonia just laughs in her face, earning her a punch in the stomach. Judy refuses to let Scott admit Hazel to hospital, though she seems to make her mind up when he tells her Hazel could live for many months in pain. Joan takes Lizzie to the boiler room and gets her to make the booze. Judy changes her mind and helps Hazel to take an overdose .
